Iñaki Zabaleta
Iñaki Zabaleta, Ph.D., is a full professor of journalism at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. He graduated from the City University of New York and was visiting professor at the University of Iowa. He is head of the current multi-year research project ‘European Minority Language Media and Journalism’ being carried out by the same research team authoring this article. He has published in Basque, Spanish and English. Some of his recents works are: Teoría, Técnica y Lenguaje de la Información en Radio y Television (Barcelona, Bosch, 2005, 736 pages); Tecnología de la Información Audiovisual ((Barcelona, Bosch, 2003, 650 pages); ‘The Forgotten Europe of Small Community Media: The Basque Experience’, in Communication Research and Media Science in Europe, Angela Schorr, William Campbell and Michael Schenk eds. (Berlin, Mouton de Gruyter, 2003, 535-549). His professional experience as press and broadcast journalist and editor has included the direction of television documentaries; reports for the CNN’s World Report; editorship of weekend newscasts at Basque TV; and the direction of magazines (Munduan: Paz y Desarrollo; Eireka).
