Jayne Stevens

Jayne Stevens is a principal lecturer in dance at De Montfort University in Leicester and a member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Dance (CIRID). Before teaching full time at DMU, she worked as an independent dance artist and was co-director of the Glasshouses Dance Company. Her roles within the University have included Head of Dance (until 2016) and Head of Pedagogic research in the Centre for Excellence in Performance Arts (2005–2010). Jayne was one of the first recipients of a National Teaching Fellowship in 2000 in recognition of pedagogic excellence and innovation. Her published research encompasses creative practice and spirituality; dance pedagogy; the history of community and participatory dance; and employability and the creative industries. She is working with the Akram Khan Dance Company and People Dancing to develop resources for learning, teaching and research.
